What is a Cardiac Monitor?

An insertable cardiac monitor (ICM) is a small device, inserted in the upper chest, that continuously monitors heart rhythm and records subcutaneous ECG automatically. An insertable cardiac monitor is indicated for:
  • Patients with clinical syndromes or situations at increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias
  • Patients who experience transient symptoms such as dizziness, palpitation, syncope, and chest pain, that may suggest a cardiac arrhythmia
