This condition is an accumulation of excess fat that results in a body weight considered unhealthy for a person’s height. Excess weight can increase the likelihood of diseases and health problems. Being overweight can cause high blood cholesterol and high blood pressure-two risk factors for heart disease. Being overweight also makes your heart work harder than it should.
Diets don’t work. Diets may take weight off fast, but they only work in the short term. When you go off the diet, you usually gain the weight back again and then some.
How to Take Off the Extra Weight
- Change What You Eat.
- Eat fewer calories.
- Eat as little fat (especially saturated fat) as possible.
- Change Your Eating Habits Eat because you’re hungry, not because you’re tired, stressed, lonely or bored.
- Don’t skip meals. If you’re not hungry eat less, but eat something.
- Make breakfast or lunch your main meal and eat a light dinner.
